Fees associated with medical and allied health services are complex and can be seen to be inconsistent. Some services can be bulk billed, some receive a rebate direct from Medicare or your insurer and some you just pay the full amount. Insurers can even differ in how much and what they will pay. This becomes even more complex (and difficult) when dealing with specialist medical services so it's always advisable to ask!
At NRMC we bulk bill everyone (except those without a Medicare card) from Monday to Friday. With effect 1 January 2017 we will be introducing private billing on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. The introduction of these fees are due to the reduction of Medicare GP Item Numbers and high operating costs associated with weekends. You are expected to pay your account on the day of the service.
All allied health service providers are independent and as such they determine their own fees. Currently there fees are Bulk Billed although it always pays to check directly with them.
There may be a charge with some procedures and dressings.
We are not responsible for third party billings (e.g. pathology, radiology and specialists). You should discuss with the providers their fee policy.
WorkCover charges may be covered by your employers WorkCover insurance company, however, this is not guaranteed and depends on whether your claim will be accepted. You may become liable for your accounts if WorkCover does not accept your claim. At the end of the day, you are responsible for paying your account.
